HandyCapable Network has put together a program that provides a win-win solution to businesses who no longer need their outdated machines, people who need the opportunity to lean technical skills for employment, and families who need a home computer but would not otherwise have access to the resources to purchase one. Through this collaborative effort, the Women's Resource Center would be able to make computers available to women and families who are faced with transportation and childcare issues that prohibit them from using the library computer resources. - Women's Resource Center of Greensboro
I visited the clients and was gratified to see their 10 year old daughter "teaching" her young 4 year old cousin to read. Her father said that she has been learning to read on the computer since the day that they received the machine. They are thrilled with the math and computer programs that the entire family can learn from. - Glen Haven Tutorial Program
The "Mouse in Every House" program is a wonderful example of how community partnerships can directly benefit students both in and out of the classroom. The need for partnerships such as this is great in our district, where 48% of our 70,000 students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Access to computers is essential to success in the work place or in higher education. - Guilford County Schools
