It is rare that people with developmental and physical disabilities can make a significant contribution to the community in which they live. In the United States alone, there are roughly three million individuals living with a physical or developmental disability, but less than a third are active in the labor market. The majority are unemployed, underemployed, or still work in sheltered programs where it is almost impossible to reach their full potential.
Meet our HandyTechs:
Through HandyCapable Network’s computer refurbishing efforts, eight volunteers spend time each week preparing donated computers for use by others. At HandyCapable Network, they are given a chance to show their abilities in a challenging, high-tech environment.
